Union representation is a must with political issues

Unions in New York and New Jersey will know the value of having representation that has their interests in mind. Similarly, it is important for a union and its members to have a friendly advocate for its interests in strong political positions. That can be accomplished by supporting and gaining the support of political candidates. There is a difference between legal contributions and support and those that violate the law. Having legal protection is a must to ensure avoiding problems.

With the election season in full swing, many candidates for office tout their allegiance to unions as a method to garner votes and win. That requires support, financial and otherwise. A key, however, is to understand and maintain legal compliance when being involved with politics. This requires experienced legal help.

With political campaigns, compliance is critical. This can include finances, regulatory adherence and filings, audits, and boards of elections. Maintaining accurate records is vital to avoid accusations of illegality and malfeasance. Everything must be accounted for and if there are accusations that something is amiss, a legal defense can be crucial. Expenses, receipts and more are necessary to be aboveboard and in full compliance.

For unions, lobbying, being involved with the community, managing crises, and maintaining good government relations are all part of the process to support their members. The labor union has a goal in mind and that is to work in the best interests of those who are part of the union. If that means it is necessary to help certain political entities to be in a stronger position to uphold and change labor law and have fair collective bargaining, then it is important to do so and do so legally. A law firm that is skilled with union representation and political compliance is a foundational aspect to these matters and should be part of the process from the start.
