Michael Bauman has practiced labor and employee benefits law, representing unions and employee benefits funds, for over 25 years. Mr. Bauman specializes in the representation of labor unions and employee benefit funds in various industries in litigation in state and federal courts, bankruptcy proceedings, arbitrations, the National Labor Relations Board and all administrative agencies. In particular, he has handled cases concerning fiduciary obligations of trustees; withdrawal liability; benefit entitlement; collection of delinquent contributions from non-signatories through alter ego, single employer and successorship liability; civil RICO; Antitrust; and bankruptcy. Mr. Bauman also negotiates collective bargaining agreements and provides counsel to benefit funds and labor unions on all compliance matters.

Prior to his association with Pitta LLP, Mr. Bauman was a partner at Friedman & Wolf and was of counsel to Virginia & Ambinder. He is a member of the Bars of the States of New York and New Jersey and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Second and Third Circuits as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts of New York and the District of New Jersey.

Mr.Bauman has written and spoken on a variety of issues related to labor and employee benefits law and is AV Preeminent peer-review rated,* the highest rating, through Martindale-Hubble. Mike is a member of the AFL-CIO Lawyers Coordinating Committee and a member of the board of directors of the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations Alumni Association, and he was until recently a member of the Community Advisory Board of New York Public Radio.

Mr. Bauman received his Master of Law from the New York University School of Law in 1997 and his Juris Doctor from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law of Yeshiva University in 1990. During law school, he was the production editor of the Cardozo Arts and Entertainment Law Journal. Mr.Bauman received his Bachelor of Science from Cornell University, majoring in industrial and labor relations, in 1987.
